Though an active addict or alcoholic may say that they are only
ruining their own lives, this is not the case. The pain for the
loved ones and families of an active addict or alcoholic can
seem almost too

to bear. The question arises, "What can I do?"
Giving a person in active addiction or alcoholism anything
besides a trip through treatment can be a huge mistake.
Providing money or other support will only prolong their using.
It is perfectly natural for families to want to help their loved
one, but giving them money is one of the worst things to do.
 Thinking of
these people as bad people or morally deficient is also a common
mistake. The addict or alcoholic is a sick individual struggling
to get well. At Recovery First, Inc. we provide the environment
where people can start to recover in an atmosphere of love and
tolerance, tempered by hard truth. We also provide intervention
services, by which a family may help bring their loved one back
into focus about their alcohol or drug problem.
