Aftercare at Recovery First West

Our Aftercare Program

Transition from treatment to aftercare can seem daunting for the client just completing an addiction program. Aftercare and transition planning is a critical aspect of treatment, and planning begins upon admission. Components of a strong aftercare plan include:

  • continuing individual and/or family therapy on an outpatient basis
  • scheduling follow-up appointments with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or other medical providers
  • committing to a plan for 12-Step or peer support groups
  • working with a sponsor
  • developing a relapse prevention plan

To help with the client’s transition we encourage involvement with local recovery groups and the sober community. This includes staying in touch with fellow Recovery First West alumni, participating in local 12-Step meetings, and joining recovery advocacy groups. The client my also join the AAC Alumni Program, which is open to any client graduating from Recovery First West or other AAC treatment centers.

Our Alumni Team: Nicole Vasquez

Join our Alumni Program

Following completion of addiction treatment at Recovery First West, we recommend that clients get involved with sober activities and recovery organizations that will aid in their transition from treatment to long-term recovery. Activities include staying in contact with other Recovery First West alumni, joining the AAC Alumni group, attending local 12-Step meetings, and if desired, seeking out the option of Sober Living environments. Sober Living housing can provide a structured living environment with a quiet lifestyle with other residents working on their recovery.
