Healing Approach

Since many people with addiction also suffer from a co-occurring mental health disorder, we use an integrated approach to help you or your loved one find long-term recovery. By addressing both conditions together, there’s a better chance to get to the root of your addiction and any co-occurring issue such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder that needs to be managed. Our original curriculum, Embracing Change: Recovery for Life was created specifically for the unique needs of our clients to educate you about the disease of addiction, help develop coping skills, and address your mental health issues that may get in the way of your recovery. We developed our curriculum (workbook series) with a panel of qualified and experienced addiction clinicians with the objective of providing our clients with a practical tool that facilitates meaningful individual exercises, recovery discussions, and group activities.

Individualized Care

There’s no such thing as a perfect rehab program that works for everyone. Because alcohol or drug addiction circumstances are unique for all of us, we customize the right treatment for you or your loved one by spending time with you, identifying your treatment needs, appropriate therapy, and aftercare plan. Recovery First collaborates with our clients, their primary therapists, and treatment team. Treatment plans also takes into consideration an individual’s co-occurring mental health condition and any ongoing medical problem. Throughout the client’s program stay, we evaluate the treatment plan, the client’s progress, and appropriate next steps in treatment.

12-Step Meetings

Our clinical team incorporated 12-Step concepts and meetings into our programming because we strongly encourage your involvement in meetings, peer support groups, and sober activities. Meetings are a safe environment to share among recovering peers during and after rehabilitation, these groups help you or your loved one establish a social network of sober friends and activities. Most importantly, 12-Step group attendance has shown to increase lengths of abstinence (Journal of Substance Addiction Treatment, April 2014).

What will be different this time?

By developing individualized treatment plans, Recovery First West treats the unique addiction and co-occurring behavioral health needs of the client.

Clients meet with our multidisciplinary clinical team upon admission for an onsite assessment to review their addiction, mental health, and medical needs. This evaluation provides a rounded picture of the client’s distinct situation and facilitates collaboration as we establish treatment and preliminary aftercare goals. Additionally, this evaluation shapes treatment to help the client move forward to a life of increased stability, balanced health, attainment of goals, and possibility of long-term recovery.

Client Responsibility

Clients who wholeheartedly commit to the treatment process with a willingness to change give themselves the best chances for recovery, despite number of previous treatment attempts. The fully engaged client attends therapy sessions, participates in groups, and completes the exercises in the Embracing Change: Recovery for Life curriculum workbooks. The more the client invests, the more transformative he or she will find the process of change that unfolds as our program leads him or her to improved health, wellness, and self-directed fulfillment of potential.

Co-occurring Curriculum

Many individuals who struggle with substance abuse also struggle with mental health disorders. Recovery First treats both the addiction and any co-occurring mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and bipolar disorder.

The value of this additional type of treatment becomes even more apparent as the client enters aftercare. Our clinical team’s training in dual diagnosis means we can actively work with clients to help them develop coping skills for mental health symptoms that could potentially lead to relapse down the road.

Integrated Programming
With focus on both your substance abuse and mental health issues, Embracing Change: Recovery for Life is the interactive curriculum we developed around best practices in current addiction therapy as well as clinical research on the latest effective treatments for co-occurring disorders.

The curriculum engages the client with unique interactive exercises and opportunities for self-examination. We also provide educational recovery information, aftercare coping strategies, and skills to manage co-occurring mental health disorders.

Following graduation from our treatment program, we encourage clients to keep their completed workbooks. Our hope is that they will occasionally review the workbooks for personal reflection as part of their long-term recovery.

Family Involvement

Recovery First encourages family involvement in our monthly sessions specifically designed for discussion of the family’s role in long-term recovery. With client consent, we invite all family members, spouses, partners, children, and loved ones to participate in family weekends either onsite or via conference calls. These family sessions help set discharge expectations, support, reinforce, and strengthen post-treatment recovery efforts by involving all of those who play a part in the client’s long-term recovery and relapse prevention.

Length of Stay

Why 90 days is Recommended
Longer lengths of treatment stay are conducive to positive addiction recovery outcomes. For continued long-term sobriety, 90-day programs are the minimum recommended length of treatment.

Length of program stay will be determined by each client’s individual set of circumstances such as treatment progress, needs of co-occurring mental health conditions, level of care requirements, and insurance plan coverage.

Our 90-day Brand Promise

If you successfully complete our 90-day treatment program, we guarantee you’ll stay clean and sober, or you can return for a complimentary 30 days of treatment.

Up to 30 Free Days of Treatment

In the event of a relapse at any time post-treatment, American Addiction Centers, Inc. (AAC) will provide qualified individuals with up to an additional 30 consecutive days of treatment at one of its facilities at no additional cost to you.
